Return to the Odyssey

Sorry for the long break, but as per our previous blog we've spent some time back in Canada. In the past 6 weeks we traveled over 9000 kilometers through 4 different provinces and slept in 12 different beds.  Thank goodness for unlimited mileage with Enterprise on our rental car; it had 10 066 km on it when we picked it up.  We spent our time with family and friends catching up after a year away; of course, we also pet a few cats.

We flew from Calgary to Vancouver to catch up with our ship. We've never been to Vancouver other than through the airport or to get the ferry to Vancouver Island, so we got a hotel for the night. We wanted to explore a little and make a run to Costco! We also desperately wanted to go to Peaked Pies for dinner. Back in 2017 we ran a Tough Mudder (20km obstacle mud run) in Whistler. Afterwards, we went to Peaked Pies for dinner and it was amazing. We found out they have a location in Vancouver, so we had to stop to see if it was really that good or if it was just the 20km race that made it that good. They make traditional Aussie meat pies topped with mashed potatoes, mushy peas, and gravy. It really was that good!

The next day was Canada Day. We weren't able to board the ship until the afternoon, so we spent the morning wandering around Downtown and out to Stanley Park. Vancouver has some beautiful old buildings and the park was lovely. On the way back to our hotel to pick up our luggage we stopped by the Canada Day festivities at Canada Place.

It was amazing to see everyone and to spend time in familiar places, but now we are back on board and ready to continue exploring the world.  We are currently sailing north through the inside passage to Alaska and our first day out we saw at least two whales; although, we have no proof as the camera was tucked away in our cabin.  It feels good to be back, but we also really enjoyed our time away.

That’s really all we have to share for now, but we’ll be back shortly with our adventures in Alaska.

A brief overview of our travels in Canada.
